Menopause Wellness Coaching

No 1. Food - get it right
The most important part of everything we will be doing. We will go through your current diet and see where we need to adjust this in order to get yourself menopause ready.
Gut health is number one to get all your other functions at their optimum, you cannot perform at your best if you are putting the wrong fuel and too much of it in your body. Balancing your blood sugar level is super important but if you have a gut overgrowth of bad bacteria that loves sugar to survive then this will make things hard, again hormone balance helps this. Too much sugar also turns good cells in to bad cells which creates disease, nutrition really will kill or cure.
This is the way to get that shape you desire and keep it, whether it is to bulk up or shift some unwanted tummy fat. No one needs to be a skinny minny but excess weight leads to many illnesses. We can be our own doctors by eating the right foods and ensuring we are using both energy systems.
What we need in our diets no question about it; hydration, protein from animal sources, high quality fats from natural sources, fresh local produce and fermented foods. We also need to go back to our gut instincts and listen to it when it says I am full or I am not hungry. We overeat and graze too much. Our stomach needs rest the same as our bodies do, this is where having an eating / resting window is very important.

No 2. Sleep
We all need sleep! This is the time when we switch off, download the days events and wake up refreshed and ready to go.
If you have to haul your a*se out of bed after hitting the snooze for the 20th time, down 100 cups of coffee before you can start the day then we may need to look in to this……………… Hormone and gut inbalances will affect this greatly
Do you dream? If not then you are not hitting your full on deep sleep. That is ok, with a few tweaks this can be brought back to where it needs to be.
No one is a night owl, your circadian rhythm is out of whack but this can be righted so do not panic!

No 3. Move your body
Get that body moving……. why? Because that is what it is built to do.
If you go from bed, to breakfast counter, to car, to desk, back to car, back to dinner table, sofa and then bed, we have a problem.
We tend to be in such a rush that everything revolves around being in the car, add to that a sedentary job then we are more than likely not hitting many steps a day.
First thing in the morning get outside and smile at the sun (if it is around) get out and about in nature. Walk, dance, cycle, jump around, take the stairs, park further away from where you need to be…….. anything to get more movement in before you even think about pounding the treadmill or throwing some weights around.
There are loads of energising movements you can do in your home to kick start your day.

No 4. Manage Stress
How many times do you hear, you need to chill out, ok calm down it does not matter or why are you still stewing about that…….. or is that just me? hahahaha
Stress is detrimental to every part of your body. It affects your gut, your memory, your weight, your energy, your focus, your brain, your emotions, your hormones…… need I go on.
Yet it is one thing we cannot avoid but we can manage our reaction to situations.
Stop and breathe, long deep slow breaths, sunshine first thing in the morning, get up that bit earlier to give you time to start your day right, move through the day, manage your time, protect your time to focus on one thing, exercise is a great way to stress dump, have a great night time routine to get you relaxed and ready for bed.
If your hormones are out of whack this will greatly affect your emotional state, it will cause you to explode or cry or give up if they are not at their optimal. Balance your hormones, control your reactions to things.
There are so many things we can do to reduce stress and deal with it better.

No 5. Find your tribe
Did I find my tribe or did they find me?
Family is key (if you have a good one) or you find your own tribe. I have family and friends that I hold dear to me and I know no matter what they have my back. Find people who help you grow, support you 100% no matter what, are always in your corner, pull you up when you need it and call you out if you’re being a d*ck…!
We are social creatures, we need interaction, good people, supportive people in our lives. Especially if you have a family, it takes a community to bring up little ones, but unfortunately a lot of us live far away from our support network.
This can be worked on to serve you better and give you the support you need so you can be the best version of yourself.

No 6. Reduce your toxic load
What do I mean by this, so a poor diet would be a toxic load, unmanaged stress, lack of sleep, lack of movement, loneliness…… are all toxic, hence the 5 previous pillars.
We can also have too much toxicity from the products we use and put on and in our bodies. There are plenty of better things out there for you and it just takes the know how to get this right. Your skin is the biggest living breathing organ of the body, you should not put anything on your skin that you would not put in your mouth…………………
You do not need to live in a cave in the middle of nowhere, you can make your home your sanctuary. Getting outside and surrounding yourself with nature can rebalance your toxic load as can good quality food.
